Description
A classic Italian dessert made with layers of coffee-soaked ladyfingers and a rich mascarpone cream.

Scale
- 1 cup brewed espresso (or strong coffee, cooled)
- 2 tablespoons coffee liqueur (optional)
- 3 large egg yolks
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1 cup mascarpone cheese
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 24–30 ladyfingers (savoiardi)
- Unsweetened cocoa powder (for dusting)
- Dark chocolate shavings (optional, for garnish)
Instructions
- Brew the espresso or strong coffee and let it cool. If using, mix in the coffee liqueur and set aside.
- In a medium bowl, whisk together 3 egg yolks and 1/2 cup sugar until pale and creamy.
- Gently fold in 1 cup mascarpone cheese until smooth and well combined.
- In a separate bowl, whip 1 cup heavy cream until stiff peaks form.
- Carefully fold the whipped cream into the mascarpone mixture until fully incorporated.
- Quickly dip each ladyfinger into the coffee mixture, making sure they are soaked but not soggy.
- In a rectangular or square dish, arrange a layer of soaked ladyfingers at the bottom. Spread half of the mascarpone mixture over them.
- Add another layer of soaked ladyfingers, followed by the remaining mascarpone mixture.
- Cover the dish with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 4–6 hours, or overnight for best results.
- Before serving, dust the top with unsweetened cocoa powder and garnish with dark chocolate shavings if desired.
- Cut into squares and serve chilled. Enjoy!
Notes
- For best flavor, refrigerate overnight.
