These breakfast danishes bring bakery magic to your kitchen—golden, flaky puff pastry cradling a rich cream cheese filling with a swirl of sweet-tart strawberry compote.

- 1 sheet puff pastry, thawed
- 4 oz cream cheese, softened
- 2 tablespoons sugar
- ½ teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 egg (for egg wash)
- 1 cup fresh or frozen strawberries, diced
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- 1 teaspoon lemon juice
- 1 teaspoon cornstarch mixed with 1 tablespoon water
- ½ cup powdered sugar
- 1–2 teaspoons milk or cream
- ¼ teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment.
- In a saucepan, combine strawberries, sugar, and lemon juice. Simmer until soft, then stir in cornstarch slurry. Cook until thickened. Cool slightly.
- Mix cream cheese, sugar, and vanilla until smooth.
- Unfold puff pastry and cut into 6 squares. Score a border inside each square, being careful not to cut through.
- Spoon cream cheese mixture into the center of each square, then add a swirl of the strawberry compote.
- Brush edges with beaten egg.
- Bake for 15–18 minutes, or until puffed and golden.
- Cool slightly. Drizzle with glaze if desired.

- Serve for brunch or as a special morning treat.
