This Egg Roll Stir Fry is a quick and flavorful skillet meal that delivers all the savory goodness of your favorite takeout egg rolls without the wrapper. Packed with tender ground meat, crisp cabbage, and bold Asian-inspired seasonings, it’s a low-carb, one-pan dinner ready in under 30 minutes.

- 1 tablespoon sesame oil
- 1 tablespoon olive or avocado oil
- 1 pound ground chicken (turkey, pork, or beef)
- 3 cloves garlic (minced)
- 1 teaspoon fresh ginger (grated or ½ teaspoon ground ginger)
- 1 small onion (thinly sliced)
- 1 14–16 oz bag coleslaw mix (shredded cabbage & carrots)
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce or coconut aminos
- 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
- 1 teaspoon sugar or honey
- ½ teaspoon black pepper
- ¼ teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes (optional)
- 2 green onions (sliced)
- 1 teaspoon toasted sesame seeds (optional)
Instructions
- Heat the oils.
- In a large skillet or wok, heat sesame oil and olive oil over medium-high heat.
- Add the ground meat. Break it apart with a spoon and cook until fully browned.
- Stir in the garlic, ginger, and sliced onion. Cook for 1–2 minutes until fragrant and slightly soft.
- Add the coleslaw mix. Toss and cook for 3–4 minutes until the cabbage softens but still has a little crunch.
- Pour in soy sauce, rice vinegar, sugar (or honey), black pepper, and red pepper flakes. Stir well to coat everything.
- Cook another 2–3 minutes until hot and well combined. Taste and adjust seasoning if needed.
- Top with green onions and sesame seeds. Serve hot.
Notes
- This dish is versatile; you can swap the ground meat for your preferred choice.
- Adjust the spice level by adding more or less crushed red pepper flakes.
