Ingredients

  • 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, chilled and diced
  • 1/2 cup ice water
  • 6 to 8 apples, peeled, cored, and sliced
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1/2 cup oats
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup butter, softened

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C).
  2. In a large bowl, combine 2 1/2 cups flour and 1 cup diced butter. Mix until crumbly. Stir in the ice water gradually until the mixture forms a ball.
  3. Roll out the dough on a floured surface and place it into a pie dish.
  4. In another bowl, mix sliced apples, 3/4 cup sugar, cinnamon, and lemon juice. Pour into the crust.
  5. In a third bowl, combine oats, brown sugar, 1/2 cup flour, and softened butter to create a crumb topping. Sprinkle this mixture over the apple filling.
  6. Bake for 45 minutes or until the apples are soft and the topping is golden brown.
  7. Allow to cool before serving.
